Our Mission: Sharing the love of Jesus Christ through aviation and technology so that isolated people may be physically and spiritually transformed.
A Brief History
Mission Aviation Fellowship was founded by WWII pilots who had a vision for how aviation could be used to overcome barriers of terrain and take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. In 1946 Betty Greene flew the first MAF plane on it's inaugural flight, transporting two missionaries from Wycliffe Bible Translators to a remote jungle location in Mexico.
MAF came to worldwide attention in 1956 when pilot Nate Saint and four other missionaries (Jim Elliot being one of them) were martyred on a beach in Ecuador by Auca Indians. The movie "End of the Spear" was based upon those events.

Today MAF uses airplanes and other technologies in 14 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Eurasia, and Latin America to overcome mountains, deserts, jungles, and rivers taking God's word to those who would otherwise never hear it. Thousands of remote villages rely on MAF to deliver physical and spiritual help.
Our family will be serving in the country of Indonesia in either the Kalimantan or Papaun region. Kalimantan is one of the world's most isolated and remote areas, and it remains largely undeveloped. Dense rain forests, impenetrable mountains, and the absence of roads leave villages isolated, limiting access to the Gospel and life-sustaining services such as health clinics and education beyond elementary school. Papua is much the same and villagers often don't have access to basic services and countless Papuans unsuccessfully battle chronic malaria, rampant skin fungi, malnutrition, and intestinal worms.
To help combat these issues there are currently about 40 MAF families serving in Indonesia operating a fleet of over 20 aircraft. These pilots are kept pretty busy and cannot meet all of the flights requested that they receive. Mike and I want to help ease this burden and as soon as we have a support team in place, we will be moving to Indonesia to help serve the isolated people living there.
